The Center for the Performing Arts Performance Teams are combined of students who show potential in their art form, as well as a strong commitment to dance. Selected dancers will have the first opportunity to perform at several events outside of the studio including the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, FL, the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, Holiday events at St. Michael Parish, other performances both locally (Masco half time show, Andover Telethon, Sole City Dance) and beyond (Boston Celtics pre-game show). The Performance Team will also participate in dance conventions and student showcases (but no competitions!).

There are currently 3 Performance Teams at CPA: Our “Prep” performance team, Junior and Senior Teams. In order to be considered for this opportunity, the qualified student must have taken classes the previous year at CPA in both jazz and ballet* (* must take 2 ballet classe per week) in order to be evaluated by the staff. Every dancer must be enrolled in ballet and jazz classes for the current year and must be 11 years old. Every dancer must attend the additional PT class each week and are expected to perform with the team at all events. They are also required to attend our summer ballet program as well as our Performance Team classed during the summer since all team placements will be made after the summer workshops are complete and evaluations can be made. Current students who do not meet the requirements may be considered should there be space on the team and at the discretion of the Performance Team Director and Choreographer.

There will be a Performance Team fee in addition to the regular monthly tuition fee which will be applied to audition expenses, performance team attire and any unforeseen costs associated with this extra opportunity.
